The Novel Concept and Treatments for Cancer
Combined Immunotherapy for Cancer (CIC)
There has been a rapidly increasing understanding of immunosurveillance and appreciation of the mechanisms by which cancer escape its notice. This has led to the development of promising new strategies against cancer, i.e. immunotherapy, which is focus on increase of immunity function against cancer cells, and has had the most exciting and consistently successful results.
The Combined Immunotherapy for Cancer (CIC) as an important part of general therapies can significantly be prolonged life, arrest or reduce recurrence. Our experience showed that more than 50% patients of advanced cancers with CIC are able to be living for 10 to 15 years without adverse side effects or complications.
Fuda Cancer Hospital is the first to initiate CIC. CIC with cryosurgery have been systematically established as a special treatment model in Fuda only for large number of patients with cancer from all over the World.
STRATEGY
CIC is performed with a variety of combination: Combination of different modalities: combination of different routes of immunotherapy: combination of different mechanisms of immunotherapy:
combination of local and systemic treatment: combination of Traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine.
METHODOLOGY
1. DENDRITIC CELL VACCINE?DC?
It is very necessary to express enough amount of antigens of cancerous cells for eliciting an effective anti-cancer immunity. (DCs) are powerful antigen-presenting cells, are found in all tissues of the body, and many of them began as macrophages, is a much more effective messenger. When the DCs begin to mature, it also starts moving, or migrating toward a lymph node. The lymph nodes contain large numbers of lymphocytes, such as CTLs. There are areas in the body that contain large numbers of lymph nodes. In lymph nodes DCs come in contact with different kinds of lymphocytes. If DCs have matured properly, the appropriate tumor antigen is bound to the their cell surface. The tumor antigens are taken up by DCs, and then are processed and presented to the T cells along with the appropriate costimulatory signal. Once activated by the DCs, the cytotoxic T cells recognize and destroy the tumor cells expressing the tumor antigen. DC vaccine is made with loading of oneself cancer material? purified tumor antigen?or cytokines.
2.CYTOKINE-INDUCED KILLER (CIK)
Cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells have been shown to be highly effective in targeting to tumor target cells. It is showed that CIK cells consist of a heterogeneous population of effector cells after stimulation with a mixture of interferon-gamma (IFN-?), anti-CD3 (?CD3), interleukin-2 (IL-2) and interleukin-1beta (IL1?). CIK cells were assumed to be part of the natural killer T (NKT) cell population. This NKT cells form a subpopulation of T cells with interesting properties, and express both natural killer (NK) cell markers, like CD56, as well as T cell markers, like CD3. CIK are made by blood of the patient.
3.MIXED VACCINE (MV)
Extensive experience with the integration of cancer vaccines into a comprehensive personalized treatment program has achieved a unique track record of unusual results. This approach distinguishes itself decisively from the mere administration of vaccines. This mixed vaccine is made by multiple commercial vaccines using different dosage and percentage to increase innate immunological function.
4.CYTOKINES
Cytokines, such as Interleukin-2, Interferon, Thymosin 1? Zadaxin? ? which are Non- Specific Components, aim to normalize the internal bodily environment, the "soil" on which the cancer has grown, and restore the body's ability to fight the disease. The drug choosing and injection time and its interval are dependent upon tumor and patient characteristics.
5.POLE IRRITATION
Pole irritation is performed with combination of injection of special medications for different poles, which are selected based on concept of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
6.“SUPPLEMENTING QI” by Traditional Chinese Medicine
Most of patients with cancer have weak “spleen” and “qi” (meaning a flowing function of body). Prescriptions for supplementing healthy qi and “spleen” are applicable to patients with weak constitution and deficiency of health qi due to prolonged disease.
INDICATION and SIDE EFFECTS
Because almost all patients with CIC
have no side effects, CIC is used for all
cancer patients. A few patients have a
self-limited lowly or moderately fever, and do not need a special treatment.
